  • Tool Recommendation for Trimming Rear Fascia of 2018 Honda Civic to Install Trailer Hitch
  • An air powered die grinder will give you the best cut and finish when installing the Curt hitch part # C92UR on your 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback. But a Dremel tool with a cutting wheel that's powered by electricity would also work too.

  • Recommended Electric Trailer Jack Compatible with Coachmen Clipper 17BHS Coupler
  • The Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack # JET-3555 has the larger outer tube diameter as you mentioned. I recommend using a rotary tool like a Dremal to enlarge that hole. Another great option is the Bulldog Powered Drive Trailer Jack- 22" Lift - 4,000 lbs # BD500199. This has an outer diameter of 2-1/4 inches which is even slightly larger and this is actually the more standard measurement for most jacks. You will need the rotary tool to enlarge the hole for this one as well.

  • What To Use If The Manual Override Crank Handle For A Stromberg Carlson Electric Jack Is Too Long
  • The center portion of the Replacement Manual Crank Handle for Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jacks Item # SC94VR is roughly 8-1/2". As far as putting a bit on a drill, you would have to take the handle to an auto part store to see if they have one that will match it. Keep in mind you could potentially lose the bit inside the housing if it is not secured to an extension. What I would do if it was mine is cut the rod just below the first bend, grind two sides flat, about a 1/2" long and...

  • Cleaning 7-way And 4-way Connection Points
  • I have a solution for you. We do not carry a tool that small, however the solution is going to be easy. If you are trying to clean dirt and muck out of a 7pin or 4 pin connection you can use some pipe cleaners and some carb cleaner spray. Tooth picks work great to get gunk out of the connections too. If you have corrosion you can use white vinegar and pipe cleaners. After you get everything cleaned out I highly recommend putting some Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors, 2 oz....

  • Tandem Landing Gear Recommendations For Thor Vortex Toy Hauler RV
  • When the 8000 lb Reese Electric 5th Wheel Landing Gear, part # RP500708 is installed, the motors are mounted on top of the legs. This means less space is needed when installing these landing gears. Should you lose power, there is a manual adjustment on these landing gears. I have attached a photo that shows where the included tool is inserted. As the photo shows, a ratchet is then attached to the tool and allows you to adjust the landing gear manually. Another option would be the Stromberg...

  • Electric Brake Replacements for Tandem 3500 lb. Trailer Axles
  • To replace your existing brakes on your tandem axle boat trailer where the axle is rated for 3500 pounds and the drum is 10” in diameter, I will work on the assumption that the brake drum depth is 2-1/4 inches as is standard. These will work on the standard 4-bolt mounting brake flange. The self-adjusting brakes I would recommend are the Dexter # 23-468-469 “Nev-R-Adjust” brake pairs. (You will need to order two pairs.) I have included links to an install video. During the installation...

  • How Tight To Set Manual Adjust Trailer Electric Brakes
  • Sounds like you are asking about how tight to adjust your trailer's manual-adjust, electric, drum brakes. You will adjust the brakes using that wheel until there is a slight but constant drag of the shoe pads on the drum. I have included a link to a video and at about the 4:39 mark our installed begins adjusting the brakes. You can turn using a flat head screw driver or brake adjusting tool # W80630.

  • Hitch and 4-Bike Rack Recommendation for 2 Electric and 2 Kids Bikes on 2009 Honda Accord
  • The type of trailer hitch that is offered for your 2009 Honda Accord 4-door sedan is a light-duty 1-1/4-inch Class I type. A Class I hitch has sufficient strength to handle the weight of only 2 bikes. The linked article on hitch classes will give you more detail on the capacities of trailer hitches. Of all the available options (linked below) I suggest the Curt Hitch item # C11496 for its lower cost and relatively simple installation. This hitch will install without any drilling using...

  • Recommended Suspension for 5x8 Northern Tool Trailer
  • The best suspension to add is going to be an axle-less system from Timbren. These are universal fits and I highly recommend checking out the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System w Electric Brake Hubs # A35RS545E. This will give you a full suspension with electric brakes. In terms of a brake controller for your 2012 Subaru Outback you first need the appropriate wiring: 4-way # HM11143865 and Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7, which will give you a 7-...

  • Waterproofing Trailer Taillight Assembly Connections on a Boat Trailer
  • What you can do is apply something like Liquid Electrical Tape, # SWC50122, which will insulate, seal, and waterproof electrical connections. I would still recommend wrapping any connections with actual electrical tape as well for extra protection. Another option is to use heat shrink tubing which is usually available just about anywhere tools and/or automotive parts are sold. With this you would first place the tubing around one of the wires before making the connection. Then use a butt...

  • Maximum Traveling Height of the Electric A-Frame Tongue Jack # JET-3500
  • If the Electric A-Frame Tongue Jack # JET-3555 is lifting to it's maximum travel distance of 18 inches then the jack is working fine and you just have too tall of a setup for this jack to work ideally for. Putting down a FloTool Jack Stand part # FT11933MI would take up some of this room. If it's stopping short then there is an internal problem. If internal components were to fail, replacement of the jack is the only option.

  • How are Electric Trailer Brakes Manually Adjusted
  • On electric drum brakes there is a star wheel at the bottoms of the assemblies that you can turn using a flat head screw driver or brake adjusting tool # W80630. Turning the wheel one way will bring the shoes closer in and turning it the other way pushes the shoes out more. You will adjust the brakes using that wheel until there is a slight but constant drag of the shoe pads on the drum. I have included a link to a video and at about the 4:39 mark our installer begins adjusting the brakes.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation For 2007 Honda Pilot
  • The hitch I recommend for your 2007 Honda Pilot is the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 75599. This is a Class lll hitch and has a 2 inch receiver opening. The installation requires no drilling so if someone is handy with tools they should have no problem installing the hitch. You do need to make sure whoever installs the hitch uses a torque wrench to make sure it is properly installed. I have included a link to an installation video for this hitch on a 2008 Pilot. Although a different...

  • Recommended Brake Assembly 12x2 with 4 Bolt Mounting Pattern
  • For your 12x2 electric brake assemblies, I recommend the Dexter Electric Brake Kit for 4 Bolt or 5 Bolt Flange - 12" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies # 23-105-106-09. These assemblies will fit your 4 bolt flange and will work well on your trailer. The mounting nuts are included but the bolts are not. If you need the bolts and lockwashers, I recommend # 7-5 and # 38LW. You may also want the brake adjustment tool # W80630 to install and maintain your brakes.
